"The San Diego Wine Guy"
Mark Hayes Stuart, CWP

Mark's classes are his signature service. They are easy-going in nature and very interactive! Each of the following classes take between 60 and 90 minutes and can be scheduled for any sized group. All participants receive a wine and price list of what is tasted, a map of the regions covered, and a wine aroma wheel as a gift to keep. These easy-going courses can be held at your home or most anywhere--even in your suite at the ballgame! Stemware use is included, or order etched commemorative glasses to make this event a memorable one!
Cabernet Cabaret
Let’s face it--in Napa Valley, cabernet is king! What makes this wine so formidable? We start by talking about age worthiness and storage and move on to tasting some of professional picks of affordable as well as special occasion wines. At the end of this class you will understand the characteristics and differences between Bordeaux and Napa wines and why each are so unique.
Forgive me for I have Zinned!
From the pink stuff to port, Zinfandel is one of the most versatile wine grapes and is known as the most famous grape from the state of California. In this class, we will talk shortly about how Zinfandel came to be California’s “Noble Grape”, what constitutes “old vines”, and taste through the best styles of wine produced from this historic variety.
Riesling: The world's greatest white wine
Chardonnay may be popular, but Riesling is truly the world’s most important white wine grape. The best are very low in alcohol, incredibly complex and racy, with great ones available for under $30! You will venture to Germany’s most prominent growing regions to taste through a top notch flight mixed in with a spine tingling version from Alsace, France as well. Guaranteed you will be a lifelong convert to this varietal, perhaps the world's most food friendly wine!
Wide World of Chardonnay
Chardonnay can be like a blank canvas for the artisan winemaker to impart his or her own personal signature. Styles of chardonnay vary from the crisp Chablis, to the elegant Burgundy, to the rich oaky classics of California. In this tasting you will experience them all during your world tour of the most consumed varietal in the United States.
Ordering From a Restaurant Wine List
It doesn't take a wine geek to confidently thumb through a wine list and order something for the table that everyone will enjoy. Class begins by discussing corkage fees and restaurant pricing. The tasting portion of the class includes side by side comparison of major varietals found on most wine lists and a discussion of why certain combinations of wine and food work so well together. This course is a must if you love to dine out!
